My background

Trained in social work at the University of Ottawa, I started to work in the Department of Social Development where I gained experience working with people of all ages, later specializing towards mental health services.

In 2019, I graduated from Dalhousie University with a Masters in Social Work, developing a deeper understanding of structural and anti-oppressive approaches to social work. This has enabled me to better understand my role and my ability to bring about change in people’s lives by respecting different life realities.

A brief history of the company

In movement counseling is, in a way, a concrete example of my proposition to you:
to transform challenges into opportunities for growth and improvement of your world.

In movement counseling is about innovating and adapting my services to the needs of my community. It’s very important for me to honor the trust my clients place in me and to remain available to better meet their needs.

Why “in movement”?

In my life, movement has been of great service: it has greatly contributed to my personal resilience and, when I’ve gone through difficult times, it has helped me to maintain a balance in my daily life.

In therapy, when we sense that a person is “in motion “,
It means there’s change in their life, recovery and healing.

In EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing),as long as there is movement at the level of thoughts, sensations and emotions, we continue on the same beneficial path.

What guides my practice

In addition to being dedicated to people’s well-being, I base my interventions on the best practices of my profession: eager to learn, I continually educate myself to offer the best tools to help you overcome your challenges.

Sometimes, that’s all we need: the kind support we need to get through the ordeal, the counseling. In other circumstances, we may need specialized techniques. I’m convinced that a therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) is an effective way of dealing with trauma, which is why I’ve made it my specialty.

I also cultivate the great richness of approaches such as naturotherapy or ecotherapy, mindfulness and narrative approaches that give us the power to change our personal history using the power of words and perspectives. I also value somatic approaches, those that work with the body, such as sensorimotor psychotherapy, dance and movement, or laughter yoga.

Nature offers powerful tools that I love to share with those seeking to feel better about themselves and their lives. Integrating nature into our recovery processes has proven its worth, which is why it accompanies me as an ally in our adventure to rediscover the lightness of the ♡.
